Ahmedabad : The forecast for the 10th biennial Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is promising a vibrant mix of business deals and…weather warnings. The Meteorological Office in Ahmedabad has predicted light rains at isolated places in Gujarat from January 8 to 10, just as the three-day extravaganza geared towards attracting global investors gears up for its grand opening.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to inaugurate the summit at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, but Mother Nature seems to have her own itinerary planned. While the showers might be a welcome respite from the Gujarat summer for some, for the summit organizers, these unseasonal raindrops could spell potential hurdles.

On January 8, the rain gods plan to sprinkle their blessings on pockets of South Gujarat like Navsari, Valsad, and Dangs. Saurashtra’s Junagadh and Gir-Somnath might also get a light drizzle that day. The following day, North Gujarat districts like Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, and Dahod might get their turn under the clouds. Rajkot, Amreli, and Junagadh too might join the rain dance.

For Banaskantha and Sabarkantha, the rains seem determined to linger till January 10. While the Met department assures these will be light showers, any drop, as they say, can make a mighty splash. The potential dampener doesn’t just extend to outdoor events and travel disruptions; the unseasonal rains could also impact winter crops in the state.

With the spotlight on Gujarat as it seeks to woo investors and showcase its economic prowess, the potential rain shadows add a layer of uncertainty to the summit. Organizers, no doubt, have contingency plans in place, but a touch of sunshine for the three days might be the most coveted guest at the Vibrant Gujarat summit after all.
