Gandhinagar | Gujarat — Udaipur is gearing up for a cultural spectacle as the first-ever Vibrant Gujarat Pre-Navratri Festival 2025 is set to be celebrated on September 14 at Field Club, Udaipur. Organized by the Gujarat Tourism Corporation, the event aims to introduce the people of Rajasthan to the pulsating beats of Garba—recently inscribed by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The evening promises an unforgettable experience with renowned singer Parthiv Gohil’s live performance, coupled with dazzling displays of Gujarati folk dance, Talwar Raas, Gof Gunthan, and Maniyaro Raas.

Leaders and artists to grace the event

The celebration will be graced by Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, Union Cabinet Minister Gajendrasinh Shekhawat, and Gujarat Tourism Minister Mulubhai Bera. Their presence underlines the significance of the event as a cultural bridge between Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Speaking about the initiative, a Gujarat Tourism spokesperson said,“The aim of this festival is to connect people of Udaipur with the rhythm, energy, and spirit of Garba. This will not just be a celebration of dance, but also a vibrant showcase of Gujarat’s traditions, attire, handicrafts, and cuisine.”

Free Garba workshop for enthusiasts

To build excitement ahead of the main festival, a free Garba workshop is being organized at JCA Dance and Sports Fitness Hub in Udaipur from September 8 to 13. The sessions will run from 10 am to 1 pm and 7 pm to 11 pm, giving locals and visitors an opportunity to learn authentic Garba moves before stepping onto the dance floor.

Organizers have also announced that traditional attire will be mandatory for participants. To encourage creativity and cultural pride, attractive voucher prizes up to ₹5,000 will be awarded for the best traditional outfit, best Garba performance, and best sportsperson in various forms.

Post-Navratri celebrations in Delhi

In another first, Gujarat Tourism has also announced a special Garba Mahotsav in Delhi on Sharad Poonam night after Navratri. This expansion highlights the government’s vision of making Garba a cultural export that transcends state borders.

More than just dance

The festival is designed as a 360-degree cultural immersion. Alongside Garba and folk performances, visitors will also get to experience Gujarat’s rich handicrafts and traditional cuisines, offering a glimpse of the state’s diverse heritage.
