Three workers die of suffocation in Dahej

Surat : Three people died after inhaling toxic fumes while they were cleaning a septic tank near a residential building in Dahej in Bharuch district.

Two other workers tried to rescue their colleagues, but in vain. The deceased involved in sludge cleaning in the narrow septic tank in Dahej industrial area. When the alarm was raised, people from the nearby spots tried to rescue them, but were unsuccessful. However, the fire personnel rushed to spot and pulled out the dead bodies of the three victims from the septic tank.

The deceased have been identified as Gulsinh Virsinh Muniya, 30, Paresh Katara, 31, and Anif Jalubhai Parmar, 24—all residents of Dahej. The deceased entered into the septic tank by holding each other’s hand without wearing safety gears. Due to the high presence of obnoxious gases and chemicals, the victims died on the spot.
