Surat | Gujarat — A group of seven young individuals from Surat met with a devastating accident while returning home from Shirdi, Maharashtra. Their SUV, a Toyota Fortuner, overturned near Erandgaon Raite Shivar in Nashik district late Monday night, killing three and leaving four critically injured.

According to initial police reports, the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and overturn. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely crushed, scattering debris across the road.

“Two of the passengers died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries en route to Nashik hospital,” confirmed a police official from Yewla taluka. “Four others were rescued by local villagers and rushed to a private hospital in Nashik, where two remain in critical condition.”

Victims Linked to Surat’s School Bus Contract Business

Among those involved in the tragic crash was Vikram Oswal, a known figure in Surat’s school bus contract business. Sources confirmed that Vikram and his team were traveling to Surat after seeking blessings at the Shirdi Sai Baba temple.

Families have rushed to Nashik after receiving news of the tragedy, leaving the entire community enveloped in grief.

Locals Rush to Rescue

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and panic moments after the accident. “We heard a loud crash and rushed out immediately. The car had flipped over and people were trapped inside. With the help of others, we broke open the doors and pulled them out,” said a local resident who helped in the rescue operation.

Ambulances arrived soon after and transported the injured to a Nashik hospital. Despite quick response, one more victim succumbed during transfer, raising the death toll to three.

Police Begin Investigation

The Nashik police have initiated a thorough investigation. “Preliminary findings suggest overspeeding led to the driver losing control,” an officer stated. CCTV footage from nearby areas and a technical examination of the Fortuner are being reviewed to determine the exact cause.

Following the accident, traffic movement was briefly halted before being restored. The police have registered a case and sent the bodies for autopsy.

Community Mourns the Loss

The tragic accident has sent waves of shock through Surat’s youth and business community. Friends, family, and colleagues gathered to offer condolences, remembering the victims as hardworking and devoted individuals.

“It’s heartbreaking. They went to seek blessings at Shirdi and never came back,” said a grieving relative.
