Ahmedabad : The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport has taken a giant leap towards elevating passenger experience with the inauguration of its all-new arrival area in the international terminal. Boasting interiors that are quintessentially Gujarat and Ahmedabad, this expansion is set to ease passenger traffic and enhance the airport’s overall capacity.

The revamped immigration area in Terminal 2 is being hailed as a world-class infrastructure marvel, setting an unparalleled standard not just in India but also on the global stage. As airports gear up to play an increasingly central role in the future, SVPI Airport is not only creating a space of seamless transit but also building an economic ecosystem that revolves around the needs of the travelers it serves.

Representing a harmonious blend between the airport and the vibrant community it caters to, SVPIA, often dubbed as “the airport of the people,” aims to ensure that every passenger’s journey is a memorable one. Spanning an expansive 2550 sqm area, the new arrival block integrates seamlessly with the existing terminal space and boasts 24 state-of-the-art immigration counters. These counters are not just functional but also serve as vibrant canvases that reflect the city’s art, culture, and urban landscape.

The expansion is a response to the rapidly growing number of passengers choosing Ahmedabad Airport as their preferred gateway. Having served over 10 million passengers in the last financial year and already exceeding 4 million passengers in just 4.5 months, SVPI Airport is projected to witness a remarkable growth of over 25% in passenger numbers by the end of this year.

Ahmedabad, the first World Heritage City of India, is celebrated for its rich heritage, distinctive rituals, and vibrant culture of community celebration. The new arrival hall has been meticulously designed to immerse passengers in the essence of “Amaru Amdavad” (My Amdavad), showcasing Gujarat’s dynamic ambience through shimmering torans that symbolize a warm and festive welcome.

Central to the terminal’s transformation are the “Aangan Van” planters, installations that embody the region’s ancient culture through art, craft, and the famed Dholavira encryption. These serene spaces offer a rejuvenating oasis for weary travelers, creating an indoor haven where rest and energy meet.

The Baggage Reclaim Hall has also undergone significant enhancements, now featuring six spacious baggage belts to cater to the increasing passenger flow. The improved green and red channel customs exits ensure a swift exit for passengers, making the end of their journey as seamless as their arrival experience.
