This very fruitful visit is now moving in the direction of cooperation not only between India-Botswana but also between Gujarat-Botswana and significant progress has been made in it. The President’s visit to Surat was finalised after a meeting with the Chamber’s office bearers on 17 December.
During the visit to Botswana, the SGCCI also presented a proposal for twin cities, in which areas such as urban development, technology and talent exchange, medical tourism, exchange programmes for education and students, and regular exchange of business delegations and exhibitions were discussed. Responding positively to this proposal, an agreement for twin cities between Surat and Gaborone is expected to be signed during the President of Botswana’s visit to Surat. Thus, the SGCCI is emerging as a leading institution in building new economic cooperation and closer relations between Gujarat and Botswana.
