Surat : Govind Dholakia, chairman of the world’s largest diamond manufacturing company, Shree Ram Krishna Exports (SRK) based in Surat was felicitated at an event held at The Cholmondeley Room of the British Parliament on March 6.

The function was organized in the presence of Lords, Members of parliament, academia, businessmen and the elite of London. Lord Raj Loomba hosted the event, which was chaired by Lord Bhikhu Parekh.

Several other lords, including Lord Navneet Dholakia and Lord Rami Ranger CBE, Baron of Mayfair, were present at the function. The event was organized to felicitate Shri Govind Dholakia for his contribution to the diamond industry and Indo-British relations.

Several Members of Parliament (MPs) spoke at the event, including Shri Shailesh Vara, who represents North West Cambridgeshire, Shri Virendra Sharma, who represents Ealing Southall, and Shri Gagan Mohindra, who represents South West Hertfordshire. They discussed the importance of the diamond industry to trade between India and Britain. Govind Dholakia was praised for his work to improve ties between India and the United Kingdom.

Shri Govind Dholakia is a household name in the diamond trade, and his contributions to the growth of the industry in India are widely lauded. He started and now heads up Shree Ramkrishna Exports, a major player in the international diamond trade. His work in the diamond business has earned him acclaim. The “GJEPC Lifetime Achievement Award” and “India’s Top 100 Most Powerful Business Leaders” are just two of the many honors he has received recently.

The felicitation ceremony marked a proud moment for India and a major accomplishment for Shri Govind Dholakia. It was a celebration of the contributions made by the Indian diaspora in the UK and a demonstration of the close ties that exist between India and the United Kingdom. Shri Govind Dholakia’s efforts were lauded by a number of notable figures, including the Mayor of Southwark, Shri Sunil Chopra, and the High Commissioner of Uganda to the United Kingdom, Shri Nimisha Madhwani. Shri Govind Dholakia’s autobiography, “Diamonds are Forever, So are Morals,” was recently released, and to celebrate, Shri C.B. Patel, Chairman of Asian Voice and Gujarat Samachar, UK, launched a brochure of the book.

In conclusion, Shri Govind Dholakia’s contribution to the diamond industry and Indo-British relations was recognized at a major event when he was felicitated in the UK parliament. Attended by several notable figures, including members of parliament and the House of Lords, the event served to highlight the close ties that exist between India and the United Kingdom. It was a proud moment for India and a testament to the value of the Indian community in the United Kingdom. De Beers’ Ms. Sarah Kuijlaars and Mr. Nigel Simson attended. Special guests included not only Shri Govind Dholakia but also his son Shri Shreyans Dholakia and their entire family.

With its adjoining terrace, the Cholmondeley Room serves as the House of Lords’ primary event space in the British Parliament. A formal dinner was held in honor of Shri Govind Dholakia. On this momentous occasion, Shri Govind Dholakia also stopped by The Cholmondeley Room.
