Surat, Gujarat – The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (SGCCI) much-anticipated Yarn Expo 2025 concluded with a remarkable success story — over 24,884 buyers from more than 100 Indian cities and countries like Switzerland, Czech Republic, and Bangladesh flocked to the event, generating business leads worth ₹1,000 crore for the next six months.

Held over three days starting from August 1 at Sarsana in Surat,  the Yarn expo of SGCCI saw enthusiastic participation from 85 top yarn manufacturers across India, showcasing over 100 innovative yarn varieties, including biodegradable, anti-microbial, moisture management, recycled polyester, and fire-retardant yarns.

“The response has been phenomenal. Exhibitors are expecting over 20% business growth this season due to the huge orders placed by buyers from outside the state,” said SGCCI President Nikhil Madrasi.

Madrasi added that this year’s Yarn Expo created new opportunities not only in traditional fabric development but also in functional textiles for sportswear, exports, and sustainable garments.

“The wide variety of yarns on display will lead to the development of new-age fabrics in Surat. The industry is shifting from commodity production to value-added, export-oriented textile innovation,” he said.

The daily footfall reflected the growing interest: 6,128 buyers visited on the first day, 8,602 on the second, and a whopping 10,154 on the final day. Garment manufacturers, retailers, and traders — from both within and outside Gujarat — actively engaged with exhibitors, placing large orders and requesting samples for further development.

Several exhibitors confirmed receiving bulk orders from major garment hubs across India, including Delhi, Ludhiana, Mumbai, and Tirupur. The global buyer interest, especially from Europe and Bangladesh, has further strengthened Surat’s image as a textile innovation hub.

“We’ve already had enquiries for long-term contracts and export supply chains. This expo has opened new markets for us,” said a yarn exhibitor from Ludhiana.

The success of Yarn Expo 2025 has prompted many exhibitors to express interest in advance bookings for next year’s edition, Yarn Expo 2026.

In a post-pandemic era where global demand for sustainable and performance-driven fabrics is rising, Yarn Expo 2025 has successfully positioned Surat as a leader in next-generation textiles, connecting Indian innovation with international markets.
