Surat, Gujarat – As the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) announced the Class 10 results this week, a heartwarming story of courage and determination emerged from the diamond city of Surat, giving hope to thousands. At a time when the pressure of exams often pushes some students into despair, 15-year-old Bhavik Khunt, a student at Mouni International School in Mota Varachha, has shown the world what it means to fight both disease and doubt—and win.

Diagnosed with blood cancer two years ago, Bhavik had to skip the board exams last year due to his ongoing treatment. However, instead of giving up, he turned his battle with cancer into a stepping stone toward academic excellence. In the 2025 GSEB Class 10 exam, Bhavik secured an A-1 grade, including a perfect 100 out of 100 in Science.

“When the doctor told me I had cancer, my world collapsed. But the biggest pain was not being able to take the board exam,” said Bhavik, fighting back tears. “I made up my mind that I would defeat this illness and return stronger next year. That’s what kept me going.”

Despite undergoing chemotherapy and battling physical weakness, Bhavik remained focused on his goal. He was only able to attend school for a week each month, yet he managed to study for three hours daily. With the unwavering support of his family and school, he overcame every obstacle that came his way.

“My school principal, teachers, and parents never let me feel like I was alone. They encouraged me at every step. Even when I was too weak to sit up, my mother would read textbooks to me,” Bhavik added with a smile.

His school principal, J.B. Patel, praised Bhavik’s perseverance. “Bhavik is not just a student, he’s an inspiration. Even while battling a life-threatening disease, he stayed committed to his dream. His success sends a strong message to all students who may be struggling today.”

Bhavik now aims to pursue further studies in Group A of Science, aspiring to one day become a doctor—perhaps to help children like him fight serious illnesses.

He leaves behind a powerful message: “Never be disappointed in any situation. If you move forward with confidence, you will definitely find success.”

In a time when exam results bring both celebration and sorrow, Bhavik’s story stands as a beacon of resilience and hope. His journey reminds us that true success lies not just in marks, but in the courage to overcome life’s toughest battles.
