Surat : Resident Doctor Caught with Thai Prostitute in SMIMER Hostel
Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC)-run SMIMER hospital is under fire after a shocking event exposing the use of the resident doctors' living quarters in the campus for illegal activities
SURAT,GUJARAT : The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC)-run SMIMER hospital is under fire after a shocking event exposing the use of the resident doctors’ living quarters in the campus for illegal activities. A resident doctor had been caught red-handed with a Thai prostitute at the hostel housed on the hospital grounds late on Saturday night.
The story gained momentum when the Thai prostitute, wearing disheveled clothing, left the hostel after a fight with the doctor who had brought her. Her looks and behavior set off a stir on the SMIMER campus, drawing a lot of attention and causing major problems for the involved doctor.
The incident was reported to the police as the situation got more dire. But the prostitute and the doctor worked out a settlement that never resulted in an official case registered. Though there were no official accusations, the seriousness of the matter drove the SMIMER Medical College Dean to mandate a probe.
Assistant professor at SMIMER Medical College, Dr. Rajendra Joshi, voiced serious worry about the occurrence. “We have got the complaint; this is a major problem. There is a committee set to look over the occurrence. The involved student doctor will suffer harsh penalties. The committee members would look at even the security guards on the hostel campus, Dr. Joshi said.
According to sources, the involved resident doctor works in the Orthopaedic department. The first inquiry turned out empty whiskey and beer bottles in the hostel room where the incident happened, suggesting that such behavior might not be isolated.
The startling disclosure highlights issues regarding the security and control inside the hostel. Although CCTV cameras exist, this episode raises questions about a probable failure or neglect in keeping discipline among resident doctors.
