Surat, Gujarat : The Surat police uncovered a fraud in which an MBA student used fraudulent signatures and letterhead of BJP MLA Kumar Kanani of Varachha Assembly to obtain an Aadhar card and a PAN card.  According to sources, the accused, Deepak Patnaik, has been conducting the scam for the past four months by renting an office space.

After obtaining information, Kapodra police began an operation and detained Deepak Patnaik, 26.  Because the young man studying MBA is originally from Odisha, he created a fake stamp with the signature of MLA Kanani from Odisha and used it to generate Aadhar and PAN cards in Surat.

On April 1 evening, police officials from the surveillance team were monitoring the Kapodra neighborhood.  During that period, an informant provided precise evidence indicating that a person named Deepak Patnaik was creating government papers like as Aadhar cards and PAN cards with bogus signatures and the stamp of MLA Kumar Kanani.  The accused would assist applicants seeking to update their names and address details on their Aadhar and PAN cards.  However, the buyers were unaware that the culprit was using a false signature and stamp of BJP MLA Kanani.

The Kapodra police conducted an operation based on information and detained Deepak Kavirajbhai Patnaik, an EWS resident of Kosad, Amroli. Police seized an Aadhar card, a printer, a computer, and both filled and blank paperwork for creating an Aadhar card in the MLA’s name.

Deepak Kavirajbhai Patnaik was accused of possessing bogus stamps in the name of Varachha Assembly MLA Kumar Kanani, which were created by an unknown individual in his birthplace of Sambalpur, Odisha.  He had rented an office next to Shanidev Maharaj, across from Gate No. 4 of the Kshama Society, near Kapodra Saurashtra Circle in Surat.

He used to make fraudulent Aadhar and PAN cards for money.  For the past three and a half months, he charged Rs. 200 per form to consumers who came to him to correct their name and address on Aadhar and PAN cards.  If the consumers did not have evidence of residency, he would place the BJP MLA’s stamp into the government forms like Aadhar cards and PAN cards without their awareness.  He would post these forged documents as real on the government website using a computer in his own office and issue phony Aadhar and PAN cards for personal benefit.

DCP Alok Kumar stated that the operation was completed in five hours after creating a team.  The accused is pursuing an MBA at Indira Gandhi University.  He was found to have filled out more than 20 forms with stamped signatures.  Along with this, over 25 blank forms have been discovered.  A photocopy of MLA Kumar Kanani’s Aadhaar card was also found.  The accused are currently being investigated further.

MLA Kumar Kanani stated that utilizing and producing forged documents from any government or official is a severe concern.  Signature stamps are used in a variety of areas.  Misusing by creating a bogus stamp is a serious crime.  The cops took immediate action, which is good.  Previously, fraudulent documents were created for he MLA of Kamrej.  Such people perform wrong things for the sake of money.
