Surat police arrest Chikhligar gang leader in Ahmednagar jewellery store robbery

Surat : The Surat police has achieved a great success in nabbing the kingpin of the notorious Chikhligar gang and detected the sensational robbery of gold jewellery and cash worth Rs 40 lakh reported at a jewellery showroom in Ahmednagar in Maharashtra.

The Surat Crime Branch team received information that about a month ago, the shutter of a gold and silver jewellery store named Verma Jewelers in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra state was broken and valuables worth lakhs were stolen from it. Soham Singh alias Son Singh Bachchansingh Bhond, the prime accused among the accused involved in the crime, is roaming near Panjarapol in Bhestan, Surat. Based on the information, the Surat Crime Branch team was able to nab him.

After strict interrogation of the arrested accused, the police revealed that a month or so ago, he had planned to steal from a jewelery shop in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra along with his friend Anmol Charansingh Bhond and his other associates. In which the arrested accused was also involved and during the night, Anmol and his four other friends went to Ahmad Nagar from Manmad in a four wheeler car, broke the shutter of Verma jewelery shop during the night and ran away after raiding gold and silver ornaments and cash.

The accused stole the Maruti Eco car from Ahmednagar in Maharashtra to carry out the robbery at the jewellery shop.
