Surat International Airport gets major passenger facility upgrade

Surat | Gujarat — In a significant push to modernise air travel infrastructure, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu will virtually inaugurate five new passenger amenities at Surat International Airport on Friday, as part of a nationwide rollout from Coimbatore.

The move is aimed at enhancing passenger comfort, accessibility and digital convenience at one of Gujarat’s fastest-growing airports.

Among the key additions is the Udaan Yatri Café, designed to provide hygienic and affordable food options. Officials said the café supports the vision of inclusive and accessible air travel. “Affordable quality food at airports is no longer a luxury but a necessity,” an airport official noted.

Under the One Airport One Product initiative, the newly launched Avasar Outlet will showcase products made by self-help groups, offering them a national platform. “This reflects the spirit of self-reliance and social responsibility,” officials said.

A major technological leap comes with the introduction of DigiYatra, enabling paperless and contactless entry through facial recognition. The system promises faster, secure and seamless boarding procedures, aligning with the Digital India mission.

Passengers will also benefit from free high-speed Wi-Fi across the airport complex, particularly aiding business travellers and students. For families, a dedicated Kids Play Area has been created to ensure a stress-free travel experience.

Authorities described the development as “a milestone in making Surat Airport modern, inclusive and technology-driven,” reaffirming a commitment to service excellence and passenger satisfaction.
