Surat : Gujarat’s Port and Transport Department launched India’s first Automated Vehicle Fitness Testing Station on the NH-48 at Valthana in Surat’s Kamrej taluka on Saturday.

On Saturday, Harsh Sanghavi, Minister of State for Home and Transport, and Praful Panseriya, Minister of State for Education, launched the Automated Vehicle Fitness Testing Station in the presence of other dignitaries.

According to Harsh Sanghvi, Minister of State for Home Affairs, the building of automatic vehicle fitness testing stations with public participation marks the start of a significant change in the country’s automobile sector. The Ministry of Road and Transport, Government of India, has announced an automated fitness management system and a scrap policy. A year ago, the Gujarat government was the first in the country to design an automatic fitness management system and scrap policy through public-private partnerships, and it granted preliminary clearance to fitness stations and trash yards under this policy.

“This testing centre, established in conjunction with the state government by BND Energy Company, will now enable quick, proper, and precise vehicle fitness testing,” Sanghavi added.

According to Sanghavi, there has been a huge increase in the number of automobiles on Gujarat’s highways. The state now has 2.21 crore registered automobiles. The state administration is striving quickly to make vehicle licences and other vehicle-related arrangements available online.

“The movement of commodities is linked to private and commercial vehicles. It is harmful for the driver if the vehicle fitness test is not performed properly. If the driver dies, the future of the entire family is jeopardised. “That is why the state government is concerned about the safety of the vehicles, as well as the drivers and their families,” Praful Panseriya, Minister of State for Education Prafulbhai Pansheria stated. Because when a vehicle, such as a bus or truck, is involved in an accident, the lives of the 50 individuals on board are jeopardised. Vehicle capacity is determined by vehicle rules, speed, testing, and braking system; vehicles with variable capacity cause accidents owing to a lack of vehicle fitness.”

It should be highlighted that BND Corporation intends to open 20 fitness centres throughout the state. Twenty fitness stations will be operational by July 2023 as part of this project. This organisation will construct a total of 100 fitness stations, including 80 in various Indian states.
