New Delhi : Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, met the families of those killed in the horrific Hathras stampede, which claimed 121 lives. Rahul left Delhi early in the morning and traveled by road to Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras. This is the first visit by a top opposition leader to the location since the incident happened.

After speaking with the families of the Hathras Stampede catastrophe, Rahul stated, “Many families have been touched, and many people have died. I do not want to politicize this. There have been problems in the system. I believe they should be compensated more, given these are really impoverished families. I respectfully propose that the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh openly provide compensation. They require it immediately; additional remuneration should be provided as soon as feasible. The family members claimed that the police arrangement was inadequate.”

Rahul was accompanied by state Congress leader Ajay Rai, state Congress in-charge Avinash Pande, party spokesperson Supriya Shrinate, and other officials on the visit.

“He (Rahul Gandhi) promised to support us in every manner he could through his party. The administration at the’satsang’ venue was subpar. My sister-in-law could have been saved if there had been adequate medical care. A family member of one of the fatalities stated that there were no sufficient provisions made at the venue.
