Surat (Gujarat) : Rachna Shah, the textile secretary of the government of India, paid a visit to the Man Made Textiles Research Association (MANTRA) facilities on Ring Road and emphasised the importance of establishing research in technical textiles, with a focus on Agro Textiles.

Rachna Shah, India’s textile secretary, inspected the infrastructure at MANTRA, including the laboratory and machinery, accompanied by Textile Commissioner Roop Rashi Mahapatra. Shah praised the infrastructure and the research of the textile experts.

“India’s textile secretary Rachna Shah took a particular interest in MANTRA’s Centre of Excellence for Technical Textiles,” said MANTRA president Rajnikant Bachkaniwala. She gathered a wealth of knowledge about non-woven textile machinery, fabrics, and applications.”

“The textile secretary paid close attention to the coating and lamination technology at MANTRA, as well as the samples prepared with cutting-edge technology,” Bachkaniwala continued.

Scientists from MANTRA gave a detailed presentation on the cutting-edge ‘Plasma Technology’ machine installed at the facility. The textile secretary was especially interested in MANTRA’s Technical Textiles laboratory and testing equipment. She lauded MANTRA’s efforts in establishing a testing laboratory at the centre for face masks and PPE kits.

MANTRA Director Dr. PP Raichurkar and President Rajnikant Bachkaniwala gave a detailed presentation on MANTRA’s textile sector activities.

Bachkaniwala urged the textile secretary to bring all Textile Research Associations (TRAs) together on a single platform to talk about and collaborate on textile industry research.

Rachna Shah, Textile Secretary, was impressed by the MANTRA management’s information and advised them to prioritise research in Technical Textiles, with a special emphasis on Agro Textiles.

MANTRA director Dr. PP Raichurkar, MANTRA President Rajnikant Bachkaniwala, Secretary Prafull Gandhi, and council members were present during the visit of India’s textile secretary.
