Ahmedabad : A video showing police personnel consuming alcohol on a public footpath after the Shastra Pooja ceremony at the police headquarters has gone viral, leading to the arrest of three individuals, including a constable. The incident has raised serious questions about law enforcement’s adherence to regulations, especially during the festive period when police are expected to ensure strict enforcement of laws.
The Madhupura police arrested Constable Amitsinh Gol on Sunday. Gol, who serves as the driver for a police inspector at Sarkhej, was identified as one of the individuals seen in the viral video. His arrest follows earlier detentions of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Vinod Damor from Maninagar police and a civilian, Sanjay Nayi, who runs a salon and joined the gathering on his bike.
The four police officers caught in the act were: ASI Vinod Damor (Maninagar Police), Constable Amitsinh Gol (Sarkhej Police), Head Constable Jujar Pagi (Police Headquarters), and Constable Raju Bariya (F-4 Company, Police Headquarters).
The fifth individual, Sanjay Nayi, was also part of the gathering. With Gol’s recent arrest, two police personnel involved remain at large.
