VADODARA: A horrifying accident at Vadodara railway station has once again highlighted the dangers of boarding a moving train. A Mumbai passenger was dragged nearly 150 metres after slipping into the gap between the Jaipur Express and the platform while attempting to reboard the train. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, sending shockwaves across social media.

The injured passenger has been identified as Suresh Tungariya, who was travelling with his family. According to railway sources, the Jaipur Express halted briefly at Vadodara on Wednesday evening. Believing the train would stop for a longer duration, Suresh stepped onto the platform to buy a cold drink for his daughter.

However, the train started moving within just two minutes. In a desperate attempt to catch it, Suresh ran alongside the train and tried to board. He lost his balance, slipped, and became trapped between the moving train and the platform.

“The passenger was immediately rescued after the train was stopped. Railway and RPF personnel, along with passengers, acted quickly to pull him out and shift him to SSG Hospital for treatment,” a railway official said.

The CCTV footage shows another passenger trying to save Suresh, but the train had already picked up speed. Both men were dragged for several metres before the rescue operation began.

Suresh sustained serious injuries and was admitted to SSG Hospital in Vadodara. According to him, he mistakenly believed the train would remain at the platform for around 30 minutes.

“I thought there was enough time. When I realised the train was leaving, I rushed to board it and slipped,” the injured passenger reportedly told officials.

The incident comes just 12 days after a similar accident at Rajkot railway station, where an RPF team successfully rescued a passenger trapped between a train and the platform. The latest mishap has renewed calls for passengers to never attempt boarding or alighting from moving trains.
