Miraculous Escape for Passengers as Ventura Airconnect Aircraft Suffers Second Flat Tyre Incident
The incident triggered a flurry of discussions on social media, with many demanding the establishment of a puncture repair outlet at Surat Airport, given the increasing frequency of flat tire incidents.
Surat : Five passengers onboard Ventura Airconnect’s Caravan EX aircraft miraculously escaped harm when the plane experienced a flat tire while taxiing to exit the runway in a heart-pounding incident at Surat Airport on Monday morning. This marked the second occurrence of a flat tire reported in Ventura’s new model of Caravan aircraft, recently inducted in the last fortnight, raising concerns about safety protocols and maintenance.
The incident triggered a flurry of discussions on social media, with many demanding the establishment of a puncture repair outlet at Surat Airport, given the increasing frequency of flat tire incidents.
Due to the flat tire incident, a scheduled flight from Delhi to Surat was unable to land as the runway was temporarily occupied, causing inconvenience to passengers.
Ventura Airconnect swiftly clarified that the incident did not involve a burning tire or a tire blast; rather, it was a case of a flat tire, where the tire gradually loses its air pressure. Fortunately, all five passengers onboard, as well as the crew members, emerged unscathed.
Ventura has been operating Grand Caravan aircraft since 2011 and had never encountered a similar situation in the past 13 years. However, the recent occurrence of flat tire issues twice in a fortnight with the newly inducted Caravan EX model has raised concerns.
A spokesperson for the company emphasized the paramount importance of safety, stating, “Safety is of the utmost importance at Ventura, and we have already raised our concerns with the manufacturer as well as other technical experts to identify the root cause and prevent a similar recurrence in the future. We had replaced the tire just 14 days ago, in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines and relevant regulations, following a similar incident 15 days ago.”
Based on an internal investigation, Ventura has identified several suspected areas, initiating a thorough analysis in collaboration with the manufacturer. One of the areas under scrutiny is the difference in tire size between the old and new versions of the aircraft, which may be a contributing factor to the incidents.
