Lioness Attacks Farmer in Amreli-Gir Border, Captured
A farmer named Mangabhai Boghabhai Baraiya was attacked by a lioness in the border area of Kakdi Moli village and Timbi area, situated between Jafrabad taluka of Amreli district and Gir Gadhada taluka of Gir Somnath district. In a shocking turn of events, a lioness launched an attack on a farmer, subsequently dragging his body away as nearby locals cried out for assistance.

Amreli : A farmer faced a terrifying encounter when a lioness attacked him in the border region of Amreli and Gir Somnath districts, dragging him over a considerable distance. The lioness displayed her fury, unwilling to abandon the lifeless form. The forest department successfully recovered the body using heavy machinery, including JCBs. A significant operation took place during the late hours, resulting in the capture of the lioness, who was subsequently placed in a cage.

A major contingent from the forest department, hailing from the nearby Jafrabad and Jasadhar areas, arrived at the scene to discover the lioness standing over the deceased body.
In a dramatic turn of events, the forest department attempted to recover the body, but the lioness displayed aggression and exhibited signs of anger. The body was retrieved by the forest department using a JCB. Following the forest department’s acquisition of the body, it was transported to Una Hospital for post-mortem examination. A significant group of forest department officials, including Shetrunji Division DCF Jayan Patel, ACF Viral Singh Chavda, and various range officers, arrived at the incident site. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the lioness and initiated a large-scale operation.
During this operation, the lioness was sedated, rendered unconscious, captured, and placed in a cage, bringing a sense of relief to the local community. The lioness was apprehended by the forest department in just a few hours, successfully concluding the operation. The forest department has urged individuals to avoid venturing out alone after dark.
