Rajkot | Gujarat — Ahead of the visit of newly appointed president of Gujarat BJP, Jagdish Vishwakarma in Rajkot, political tension rose after unidentified individuals threw ink on a banner featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi near Bahumali Chowk. The Rajkot Municipal Corporation acted promptly, removing the defaced banner, while police confirmed that no complaint has been lodged yet.

Ink Thrown on PM Modi’s Banner Near Bahumali Chowk

According to sources, Gujarat BJP State President Jagdish Vishwakarma visited Rajkot on Wednesday to address party workers at the Race Course Ground. To welcome him, large banners were installed along the route from Greenland Chowk to the Race Course.

However, one banner placed near Bahumali Chowk became the center of controversy when black ink was thrown over PM Modi’s face printed on it. The incident triggered outrage among BJP workers and supporters, who viewed it as an insult to the Prime Minister.

Local residents first noticed the defacement early in the morning, following which the municipal team rushed to the spot and removed the banner immediately to prevent further escalation.

Rajkot Municipal Corporation Acts Swiftly

Officials from the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) confirmed that the banner was taken down as soon as the ink stains were discovered. An RMC official stated, “As soon as we were informed that ink was thrown on the banner featuring PM Modi’s photo, we reached the location and removed it promptly.”

The quick response from RMC prevented the situation from becoming a flashpoint ahead of Jagdish Vishwakarma’s Rajkot visit, which has already drawn massive attention across Saurashtra.

No Complaint Filed Yet, Say Police

Speaking on the matter, Pradyumnanagar Police Station PI V. R. Vasava said, “The responsible person has already removed the banner. No official complaint has been received so far. If any complaint is lodged, necessary legal action will be taken.”

Police sources indicated that they are keeping a close watch to ensure law and order is maintained during the BJP President’s visit.

Grand Welcome Planned for Jagdish Vishwakarma

Meanwhile, the BJP’s Rajkot unit has organized a grand welcome for State President Jagdish Vishwakarma. He will arrive at Hirasar Airport by a special flight, where he will be received by Rajkot and Morbi district leaders.

From the airport, a car and bike rally will escort him to the Race Course Ground. Around 1,000 youth BJP members on bikes are expected to participate in the rally. More than 20,000 party workers and leaders from across Rajkot and Morbi are expected to attend the evening meeting scheduled at 5:30 PM.

In keeping with his tradition, Vishwakarma has requested supporters not to bring bouquets or floral gifts, but instead to offer books, which he will later donate to children in local schools.
