For the last many years, people, especially the youngsters studying in schools and colleges in Vyara and Surat, demanded the installation of mobile towers in Serula village to facilitate the villagers to connect with the rest of the world.
During the coronavirus-infused lockdown and online education in the majority of the schools and colleges, the students from Serula village had no option but to abstain from attending online classes due to the non-availability of internet connection in their village.
Sarita Vasava, chairman of the Vyara District Education Committee and member of the Tapi District panchayat had represented the former Tribal Affairs minister of Gujarat, Ganpat Vasava, and Bardoli MP Prabhu Vasava for setting up mobile towers in the interior villages in Vyara taluka.
About five mobile towers of Jio were approved in five villages in Vyara including Serula village. However, the tower was not installed due to some technical reasons.
Vijay Vasava, leader of Serula village said, “Villagers of Serula have become independent in the real sense. Like others in the country, the villagers will be able to use internet and WiFi connections with the installation of the mobile tower”
