ICICI Bank donates 1,200 crore to Tata Memorial Centre
The three TMC facilities located in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra; Mullanpur, Punjab; and Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh will get a combined 7.5 lakh square feet of new construction funded by ICICI Bank's corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding and outfitted with cutting-edge machinery.
Surat : ICICI Bank, a leading financial organisation in India, has just announced that they would donate Rs 1,200 crore to the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), a prestigious organisation that operates cancer treatment and research facilities around the nation.
The three TMC facilities located in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra; Mullanpur, Punjab; and Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh will get a combined 7.5 lakh square feet of new construction funded by ICICI Bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding and outfitted with cutting-edge machinery.
ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth (ICICI Foundation), the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of ICICI Bank, will lead the effort, which is expected to be finished by 2027 and received the highest donation of any organisation to TMC.
These new centres of excellence in oncology treatment will double the current capacity and significantly boost the country’s cancer treatment infrastructure with cutting-edge technology and specialised multidisciplinary teams providing advanced and evidence-based therapies to nearly 25,000 new patients annually.
To demonstrate this dedication, ICICI Foundation and TMC have inked an agreement. The agreement was signed by the President of the ICICI Foundation, Mr. Sanjay Datta, and the Director of the Tata Memorial Centre, Dr. R. A. Badwe, in the presence of the Chairman of the ICICI Bank, Mr. Girish Chandra Chaturvedi, and the Executive Director of the ICICI Bank, Mr. Sandeep Batra.
The ICICI MRI Facility at Tata Memorial Hospital in Parel, Mumbai, was also opened today by Mr. Chaturvedi in the presence of Dr. Badwe and Mr. Batra. The ICICI Foundation has generously funded a state-of-the-art MRI machine for use in this institution.
Mr Girish Chandra Chaturvedi, Chairman of ICICI Bank, spoke at the event, saying, “Today, we are committing Rs 1,200 crore for building three new blocks at TMC’s centres at Navi Mumbai, Mullanpur, and Visakhapatnam by 2027.” By expanding availability of cutting-edge cancer treatments throughout the nation, this programme will help us fulfil our responsibility to promote healthcare. To reduce the number of patients who must travel vast distances to Tata Memorial Hospital in Parel, Mumbai, these new facilities will also function as regional referral hubs.
Adding on the occasion, Dr. R. A. Badwe, Director, Tata Memorial Centre, said, “We are extremely grateful to ICICI Foundation for embarking on one of the largest CSR initiatives to improve cancer care across the country. The infrastructure which is being added at the three hospitals of Tata Memorial Centre at Navi Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Mullanpur will provide timely and high quality treatment to people in the region at highly subsidised costs. It is critical that advanced cancer care is delivered closer to home so that more people from the region benefit from accessing such therapies.
