Heavy Rains Lash 27 Districts in Gujarat, Dang and Valsad Hit Hard
South Gujarat has witnessed the most intense downpour, with Dang's Ahwa taluka receiving 9.8 inches and Valsad's Kaprada taluka 9.5 inches in the last 24 hours. Other talukas like Waghai and Subir in Dang reported over 7 inches, while Dharampur in Valsad and Vansda in Navsari received over 6 inches.

Gandhinagar, Gujarat – With the arrival of the monsoon in Gujarat, heavy to moderate rainfall has been recorded across the state, providing much-needed relief from the summer heat. As per the latest report from the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), a total of 113.63 mm or 12.87% of the season’s average rainfall has been recorded as of 6:00 am Thursday.
South Gujarat has witnessed the most intense downpour, with Dang’s Ahwa taluka receiving 9.8 inches and Valsad’s Kaprada taluka 9.5 inches in the last 24 hours. Other talukas like Waghai and Subir in Dang reported over 7 inches, while Dharampur in Valsad and Vansda in Navsari received over 6 inches.
“This early burst of the monsoon is a blessing for our farmers. The fields are finally ready for sowing,” said Jitubhai Patel, a farmer from Dharampur.
The rainfall wasn’t confined to South Gujarat. Moderate showers ranging from 3 to 4 inches were recorded in Gandhinagar’s Mansa and Dehgam, Sutrapada and Patan-Veraval in Gir Somnath, and parts of Panchmahal and Navsari. Light to moderate rains were reported in 160 talukas across 27 districts, showing widespread monsoon activity.
“This widespread rainfall shows a good start to the season, but the administration remains alert, especially in low-lying areas prone to flooding,” said a senior SEOC official.
Between 6:00 am to 10:00 am today, Olpad in Surat, Dharampur in Valsad, and Hansot in Bharuch recorded over 3 inches of rainfall. Walia and Umarpada followed closely with over 2.5 inches.
With heavy rains continuing in several parts, authorities are monitoring river levels and advising citizens to stay cautious. Meanwhile, farmers and rural communities are optimistic about a strong start to the Kharif sowing season.
