Ahmedabad : An unsettling incident unfolded as a plane carrying 303 Indian passengers, en route from Dubai to Nicaragua, was diverted to Vatry Airport near Paris, raising suspicions of human trafficking.

Among 276 Indian passengers, 21 individuals are hailing from the Mehsana in Gujarat. However, the returnees have remained tight-lipped, refusing to engage with the media and stating they had gone for a vacation.

The Crime Investigation Wing of the Gujarat Police have commenced interrogations of these passengers, seeking clarity on the unusual detour and the suspected human trafficking angle. Despite intense questioning, none of the individuals have disclosed any association with human trafficking. Most passengers claimed to have embarked on a vacation, offering no incriminating details.

The Airbus A340, operated by Romania-based Legend Airlines, came under scrutiny when French authorities acted upon an anonymous tip, prompting concerns of undocumented immigration or potential trafficking. The plane, on its way to Nicaragua, made a scheduled refueling stop at Vatry Airport. It was during this layover that French police intervened, prompted by suspicions of trafficking among its occupants.

While investigations in France yielded no concrete evidence supporting the trafficking allegations, the incident has brought to light lingering concerns regarding undocumented immigration routes and the complexities surrounding human trafficking networks.

Authorities remain vigilant, continuing their inquiries to ascertain the nature of the diversion and the true intentions behind the passengers’ journey. Despite the lack of evidence, the suspicion of trafficking has underscored the need for comprehensive measures to combat such illicit activities globally.

This unsettling episode has sparked a multifaceted investigation, involving Indian and French authorities collaborating to unravel the truth behind the diverted flight. The reluctance of passengers to disclose pertinent information adds layers of mystery to an already perplexing situation, amplifying the urgency for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the plane’s unexpected diversion and the suspicions it raised.
