Two days after the Bagasara incident came to light, Rajpur Primary School in Deesa encountered a similarly distressing situation. Shravanbhai Anawadia, the school’s principal, revealed that during a seminar aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of online games, students disclosed cuts on their hands. Upon investigation, it was uncovered that some students had inflicted these injuries on themselves as part of a challenge initiated by peers.
“One student admitted that a friend challenged him to prove his courage by cutting his hand. Another mentioned being coerced by a pledge involving his parents,” explained Principal Shravanbhai. Initially dismissing it as harmless, the school took action after learning about the Bagasara incident, swiftly organizing counseling and alerting child protection services via helpline 1098.
“The counseling sessions focused on reassuring students and their families, urging vigilance against online influences,” added Shravanbhai. Authorities examined parents’ mobile phones for any signs of incriminating content but found none related to the incidents. Despite these efforts, fear among students and parents persists, affecting school attendance.
Local police presence at the school further heightened apprehensions, prompting calls for sensitive handling to prevent further disruption to children’s education. An ongoing investigation aims to ascertain whether the incidents are linked to specific online games or other factors influencing the children.
