Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to mark a historic moment in India’s textile industry as he journeys to Vansi Borsi village in Navsari district on February 22 to inaugurate the groundbreaking ceremony of the PM MITRA park. This milestone event underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering the textile sector while driving rural employment and women empowerment initiatives.

The Navsari district administration, spearheaded by District Collector Kshipra Agre, has mobilized efforts to ensure the seamless execution of the event. Basic facilities, including the installation of electric transformers by Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) on the barren land designated for the park, are being arranged to facilitate uninterrupted electricity supply.

The PM MITRA park, sprawling across 1,142 acres, is poised to emerge as a pivotal textile industry hub, attracting substantial investments and generating a plethora of employment opportunities in Gujarat. The initiative, conceived to revolutionize the textile value chain, is expected to invigorate the state’s economy and reinforce its status as a prime investment destination.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this ambitious project was inked at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC) in Sarsana, in presence of Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railway Darshana Jardosh, and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in attendance in July 2023.

Gujarat, renowned for its burgeoning textile industry, particularly in cities like Ahmedabad and Surat, eagerly anticipates the establishment of the PM MITRA park. Surat, hailed as the man-made fabric (MMF) textile hub of the country, is poised to witness a transformative impact with the realization of this visionary project.

The park is envisioned as a comprehensive textile ecosystem encompassing various stages of production, from manufacturing to processing, and including the apparel segment. This integrated approach is poised to enhance efficiency and competitiveness, catapulting Gujarat to the forefront of the global textile landscape.

Beyond its implications for the textile sector, the establishment of the PM MITRA park holds profound socio-economic significance. The project is poised to generate numerous job opportunities, uplifting livelihoods, and fostering economic growth in the region. Moreover, it is expected to catalyze overall industrial development in Gujarat, further solidifying its position as a leading investment destination in the country.
