Gandhinagar | Gujarat — The Gujarat government on Thursday carried out a minor bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring and reassigning three Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across key administrative and public sector departments. IAS officer Shalini Agrawal, who has been serving as the Municipal Commissioner of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), has been transferred from her current post. Her services have now been placed at the disposal of the Energy and Petrochemicals Department, where she will take over as the Managing Director of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), Vadodara.
The changes were announced through an official notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) from Gandhinagar.
Shalini Agarwal replaces IAS Jenu Devan, who had been holding the position as an additional charge.
In another significant change, IAS Nagarajan M, who was serving as the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), Ahmedabad, has been transferred and appointed as the new Municipal Commissioner of the Surat Municipal Corporation. His services have been placed with the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department, marking his entry into one of the state’s most important urban administrative roles.
Following Nagarajan M’s transfer, the government has assigned additional responsibility of GSRTC to IAS Dr Rajender Kumar, who is currently serving as the Commissioner of Transport, Gandhinagar. He will now hold the additional charge of Vice Chairman and Managing Director of GSRTC, Ahmedabad, ensuring continuity in the functioning of the state-run transport body.
Officials described the reshuffle as a routine administrative exercise aimed at strengthening governance and ensuring effective leadership across departments.Surat, being one of Gujarat’s fastest-growing urban centres, is expected to witness continuity in key civic projects under the new municipal commissioner, while the energy and transport sectors will see fresh administrative oversight with the latest changes.
The transfers take effect immediately, as per the government notification.
