Gujarat Government Launches ‘Millet Festival 2024’ to Promote Nutritious Grains
Named ‘Millet Mahotsav-2024’, the festival's centerpiece will be located at the picturesque Sabarmati Riverfront Ground in Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad : Building on the momentum of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, which led to the declaration of 2023 as the ‘International Millennium Year’ by the United Nations, the state government of Gujarat is embarking on a special program aimed at promoting millets. With the Department of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, and Cooperation at the helm, the ‘Millet Festival 2024’ is set to take place from March 1 to March 3 across eight municipalities in the state.

The Millet Festival promises an array of attractions, including themed stalls showcasing millet-based products, handicrafts, and culinary delights. Attendees can explore a live food zone dedicated to millet-based cuisines and enjoy nightly cultural performances, adding a touch of festivity to the event.
Adhering to the ethos of inclusivity, entry to the ‘Millet Mahotsav-2024’ is free and open to the public, ensuring that individuals from all walks of life can partake in the festivities and learn about the nutritional benefits of millets.
The festival in Ahmedabad will commence with an inauguration ceremony graced by Health Minister Rishikeshbhai Patel. Joining him will be esteemed dignitaries including Ahmedabad City Mayor Pratibha Jain, District Panchayat President Kanchanbehan Vaghela, Ahmedabad Panchayat Member Kiritbhai Solanki, District Collector Praveena D.K., and DDO Videh Khare, underscoring the significance of the event in promoting health, culture, and sustainable agriculture.
