Gandhinagar | Gujarat — Gujarat has reinforced its reputation as one of India’s strongest industrial engines by securing a place among the top five states in the country for MSME registrations. With more than 30 lakh Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises now registered, the state is witnessing an unprecedented surge in entrepreneurship, investment and manufacturing activity.

Adding to the achievement, Ahmedabad and Surat have earned spots among the top ten districts nationwide with the highest number of business registrations—highlighting the depth of industrial growth across urban centres.

Strong Policy Push Driving Growth

The rapid rise of MSMEs in Gujarat has been powered by the “Self-Reliant Gujarat Scheme for Assistance to MSMEs-2022,” a comprehensive initiative designed to make local industries globally competitive. The scheme provides a broad spectrum of financial and structural support to entrepreneurs across sectors.

Key benefits include capital and interest subsidies, reimbursement of Net SGST and EPF contributions, and financial assistance for ERP adoption, quality certification and ZED certification. Entrepreneurs also receive support for technology acquisition, patent registration, participation in industrial exhibitions, and access to industrial plots, sheds and rental assistance.

Officials say the scheme is helping businesses upgrade technology, reduce costs and expand into global markets.

₹2310 Crore Boost in Just Two Months

Despite global economic uncertainties, the Gujarat government has accelerated financial assistance to industries. Since February 2026, authorities have approved 5,094 MSME claim applications and disbursed a total of ₹2310.91 crore to industries across the state.

The rapid release of funds is being seen as a major step in ensuring liquidity and stability for businesses navigating rising costs and global market fluctuations.

A senior government official said,“The focus has been on ensuring that industries receive timely financial support so that growth momentum is not disrupted.”

Leadership Emphasises Industry Support

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state government has reaffirmed its commitment to industry-driven growth. Officials emphasise that strong coordination between departments has enabled faster approvals and fund disbursement.

A government spokesperson stated,“Gujarat is committed to standing with industries even during challenging global conditions. MSMEs remain the backbone of employment and innovation in the state.”

Ahmedabad and Surat Lead the Charge

Ahmedabad and Surat’s inclusion among India’s top districts for business registrations reflects the strength of Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem. Both cities have emerged as hubs for textiles, engineering, chemicals, gems and jewellery, and manufacturing.

Industry leaders say the surge in registrations is also creating new employment opportunities and strengthening supply chains across sectors.

Vision for a Global Manufacturing Hub

Gujarat’s long-term strategy goes beyond MSMEs. The state continues to promote large-scale industries through the Industrial Policy 2020 and Atmanirbhar Gujarat Yojana 2022.
