Surat : Amid escalating tensions over reports of unprovoked crimes and atrocities against women in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali by a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Sheikh Shahjahan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a protest in Surat. The demonstration saw a large gathering of activists, led by prominent figures from the Mayor to the BJP President, denouncing the alleged incidents of violence and demanding justice for the victims.

In a show of solidarity and outrage, activists from various walks of life, including women, joined forces at Swami Vivekananda Circle in Surat’s Nanpura area. Spearheaded by Surat Mayor Daxesh Mavani and city BJP president Niranjan Zanzmera, alongside ministerial office bearers and enthusiastic supporters, the protest aimed to condemn the reported crimes and hold the accused accountable for their actions.

The BJP leaders and workers raised banners, placards, and vocal slogans against the Trinamul Congress, condemning the alleged harassment and exploitation of Hindu tribal women in the Sandeshkhali area. Reports have surfaced accusing TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan and his associates of targeting women, with claims of protection from the state government under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s leadership.

Under the backdrop of these disturbing reports, BJP spokesperson Jagdish Patel criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led government for its alleged inaction and appeasement policies. Patel emphasized the need for severe punishment for the accused, stressing that such incidents of violence and exploitation must be met with the full force of the law to deter future transgressions.

The protest in Surat served as a platform for the BJP to voice its demands for justice and accountability in the wake of the alleged atrocities in West Bengal. With a firm stance against appeasement politics and a commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of women, the BJP reiterated its call for stringent legal action against those responsible for perpetrating such heinous acts.
