Surat : At Surat railway station, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) orchestrated a heartbreaking reunion between a distraught passenger and her lost suitcase, which contained priceless belongings valued at an astounding Rs 9 lakh. The exhibition of honesty and efficiency was really remarkable.

On January 18th, while conducting their regular check of the Musafirkhana (restroom), RPF officers Pawan Kumar, CT Sunil Dhaka, and Rajan Sandav found an abandoned ladies’ purse.

As per procedure, the RPF personnel immediately passed the bag on to RPF ASI Sadanand Shukla for further examination. Nevertheless, fate had other intentions. Not long after that, a very distressed Manjuben Ramesh Kumar Jain, a 68-year-old local of Kailashnagar, Majura Gate, who was accompanied by her son Rakesh Jain, showed up at the RPF headquarters. Manjuben recounted her narrative with a quivering voice. She had left her purse at the Musafirkhana on train number 19418, which was heading from Ahmedabad to Surat.

Manjuben detailed the contents of the bag, which included a number of valuable possessions and savings: two rings valued at 1.20 lakh rupees, a pair of earrings valued at 80,000 rupees, a gold chain valued at 70,000 rupees, and 4,760 rupees in cash.

After being moved by Manjuben’s situation, the RPF crew took immediate action. After ASI Bhanwar Lal Daroga carefully checked Manjuben’s statements, the bag was quickly given back to its owner. As she clenched her bag and thanked the RPF workers from the bottom of her heart, Manjuben’s expressions of excitement and relief were obvious.

The RPF has my eternal gratitude. All prospect of ever seeing my possessions again had been extinguished. “They have not only helped me get my belongings back, but they have also given me hope for the future,” Manjuben added, her voice quivering with appreciation.

This event underlines the importance of the RPF’s function beyond only protecting passengers. Their dedication to maintaining moral standards and going the extra mile to help people get their items back is an admiral display of public service.
