Goa Nightclub Fire: 25 Killed in Arpora Cylinder Blast, Safety Lapses Suspected

Goa – At least 25 people including tourists were killed and six received serious injuries in a cylinder blast incident at the night club in Arpora in Goa on late Saturday night. According to the police, the fire broke out at around 12 in the night. Those killed in this accident include 4 tourists and 14 club staff, while 7 People have not been identified yet.

As soon as the incident was reported, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and local MLA Michael Lobo reached the spot. He said that three people died due to burning sensation and the rest due to asphyxiation. This accident will be thoroughly investigated and strict action will be taken against the culprits.

Currently, according to preliminary information, the night club did not follow fire safety rules. The fire in the club was brought under control by several fire brigade vehicles that reached the spot. Senior officials of the administration are present at the spot. A forensic (FSL) team will investigate the real cause of the fire.

Fire started from kitchen, dead bodies found on stairs

Goa DGP Alok Kumar said that 23 dead bodies have been recovered and most of the dead were employees working in the club. The fire first spread from the kitchen on the ground floor to other parts of the club. Therefore, most of the dead bodies were found in the kitchen area. Two people died on the stairs while trying to escape.

According to media reports, the administration has sealed the incident site. The police have started a thorough investigation into this matter.

CM Sawant said – action will be taken against those responsible

CM Sawant posted on X saying, “It was a sad day for Goa. 23 people have died in the massive fire that broke out in Arpora. I am deeply saddened and express my deepest condolences to all the affected families in this difficult time. am. I went to the incident site and inspected the situation and have ordered an investigation into this incident.

The investigation will reveal how the fire broke out and whether fire safety and building rules were followed there. Whether it was followed properly or not. Whoever is responsible for this incident, strict action will be taken against him under the law. Any kind of negligence will not be tolerated at all.

BJP MLA demanded safety audit of clubs

BJP MLA Michael Lobo said that all the clubs in the state need to conduct a safety audit. He said that tourists always consider Goa a safe place, but this incident is very worrying. Yes and such incidents should not happen in future.

He stressed that the safety of tourists and employees working in these clubs is of utmost importance. Lobo said that most of the people in the accident died due to breathlessness while running towards the basement.
