Surat : A nerve-wracking episode unfolded on the Ghogha-Surat Ro-Ro (roll on-roll off) ferry service as the vessel encountered a breakdown and tilted to one side, plunging about 500 passengers into a tense situation. Departing from Ghogha jetty around 5:45 pm, the ferry faced an unexpected halt, remaining lodged in shallow waters within the sea channel for over three hours.
The district administration in Bhavnagar swiftly reacted to the emergent scenario, engaging with the company overseeing the Ro-Ro ferry service to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers amidst the vessel’s precarious condition.

The Surat-Ghogha Ro-Ro ferry service stands as a hallmark in South Asia, traversing the 60 nautical miles of the Gulf of Khambhat with greater efficiency than conventional road transportation methods.
