London: More than 2.5 million children and young people across the world have benefited from Formula E and UNICEF’s groundbreaking cooperation since it started in 2021.

When it comes to combating climate change, Formula E was the first international sports body to join together with UNICEF.

This partnership seeks to help build a world where all children may live in a safe, clean, and sustainable environment by investing in UNICEF’s climate programming via the Safe and Healthy Environment Fund.

To do this, we must provide young people with the information and tools they need to combat climate change and strengthen the resilience of the services children depend on, such as education and healthcare.

Funded by the partnership are local initiatives such as the installation of rainwater capture and purification systems in schools across three Mexican states, benefiting more than 17,000 students and their surrounding villages.

In 2022, the first full year of UNICEF’s cooperation with Formula E, the organization’s Safe and Healthy Environment Fund helped over 1.8 million children and young people.

The relationship between Formula E and UNICEF helps advance UNICEF’s climate work for children and provides funding for comprehensive climate projects throughout the globe. UNICEF’s global climate activities benefit from Formula E funding. These programmes include novel initiatives including recycling plastic garbage to build schools, installing solar panels in public buildings like schools, and teaching local manufacturers how to create eco-cooking stoves.

“We are proud to see our partnership with UNICEF is having a powerful and meaningful impact on children and young people all over the world,” said Julia Pallé, Formula E’s Director of Sustainability. As an industry pioneer in sustainability, we want to safeguard not just the earth but also its inhabitants. One billion children are at high danger from the effects of climate change; we must do all we can to protect them and provide them the greatest education possible. Involvement in their education and investment in their communities makes us happy since they are the ones who will eventually run the globe and shape its future.

Children in fragile nations and vulnerable communities are feeling the effects of climate change the most, according to UNICEF’s Global Lead for Climate, Energy, and Environment, Gautam Narasimhan. There are now one billion children that are at high danger due to climate change. As the first international sporting body to support UNICEF’s climate change initiatives, Formula E has been instrumental in spreading awareness and raising funding to improve the lives of children and their families all over the globe.

“Thank you, Formula E, for helping us realise our goal of making the globe a place where every kid, no matter how remote, may grow up in health and safety.
