Rajasthan : Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Raghuram Rajan joined the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi through Rajasthan on Wednesday morning. In a video shared by the news agency ANI, the former governor of the Reserve Bank of India is seen walking alongside senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Sachin Pilot during the party’s outreach programme.

The former head of the Reserve Bank of India, a vocal opponent of demonetisation, had previously expressed concern over India’s economic growth and budget deficit. In his book, I Do What I Do, Rajan revealed that he opposed demonetisation because he believed that the short-term economic costs associated with such a disruptive decision would outweigh the long-term benefits.

The march on foot recommenced this morning in Bhadoti, Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan.

The yatra started from Kanyakumari on September 7 and has so far covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. It will end in Jammu and Kashmir at the beginning of February 2023.

Numerous politicians, film stars, activists, and former bureaucrats have already participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

On Friday, the Congress will host a concert in Jaipur to commemorate 100 days of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, according to AICC general secretary Jairam Ramesh. Sunidhi Chauhan will perform live.

Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, will attend the “Bharat Jodo Concert.” Gandhi will also hold a press conference in Dausa at 1 p.m. on the same day.

“The (Bharat Jodo) Yatra will complete 100 days on December 16; this will be a significant milestone,” Ramesh said at a press conference in this city.
