New Delhi : ET Edge’s Global Sustainability Alliance launched a campaign called #PlanetBuddy on World Car Free Day to get people out of their automobiles and onto more sustainable forms of transportation. They planned a campaign to raise awareness in districts of Delhi notorious for traffic and pollution.

Students from area schools and the Delhi Police Department worked together as part of #PlanetBuddy to make this happen. On September 22, students around the country took to the streets with signs urging motorists to ditch their cars in favour of foot traffic, bicycles, public transit, and electric vehicles. Students flooded the Connaught Place neighbourhood of Delhi, handing out awareness materials and ‘Thank You’ cards to commuters who had chosen environmentally friendly forms of transit.

Several educational institutions in Delhi worked together on #PlanetBuddy. These included the Praesidium Indirapuram School, the Union Academy, the GL Bajaj Institute of Management, and Bennett University. The Lending Hands Foundation, an Indian nonprofit dedicated to social change, played a crucial role in the campaign’s execution as a partner. The Delhi Traffic Police were also there to show their solidarity.

Children are the future of a sustainable tomorrow, and becoming part of the solution to environmental problems requires them to think critically and creatively. The pupils were motivated by the occasion, and their participation reflected that.

The campaign’s objective is to encourage ecological awareness and creative problem-solving skills in preparation for future issues. The goal of #PlanetBuddy, an effort launched by ET Edge, is to make the world a better, cleaner place and pave the path for long-term, sustainable solutions.
