Surat : In a significant breakthrough in their ongoing campaign against drug-related activities, Surat police, in a well-executed operation, disguised themselves as Muslims to apprehend a couple allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the Rander town of Surat.

The couple, identified as Sameer Munaf Malik and Sania Sameer Malik, were closely monitored by undercover officers for several days, ultimately leading to their arrest.

The operation was carried out as part of the “No Drugs in Surat City” campaign initiated by Surat police to curb the illicit drug trade within the city.

Undercover police officers stationed themselves near Taj Apartment in Rander town, strategically monitoring the movements and activities of Sameer Munaf Malik and Sania Sameer Malik. It became evident to law enforcement that the couple was regularly meeting with different individuals and supplying them with a white powder identified as Mephedrone, a banned drug with a street value of Rs 2 lakh (approximately $2,700 USD).

Acting on a credible tip-off, the Rander police swiftly moved in to arrest the accused couple. During the operation, the police seized a significant quantity of 20.36 grams of Mephedrone from the couple. The successful operation highlighted the dedication of law enforcement in addressing the drug problem that has affected the city.

The modus operandi of the operation involved the couple’s alleged plan to supply drugs in the Ramnagar area of Rander. To avoid suspicion, police officers disguised themselves as Muslims, covertly observing the accused couple. Once the suspects arrived at the location, law enforcement officers identified them and discreetly trailed them to their residence.

In addition to the confiscated drugs, the police also seized mobile phones and a motorcycle from the possession of the accused couple. These items are expected to play a crucial role in the ongoing investigation into the couple’s alleged drug trafficking activities.

Police sources have disclosed that Sameer Munaf Malik and his wife, Sania Sameer Malik, had been operating their illegal drug supply business for an extended period in Rander town. The drugs, believed to have been supplied to consumers within the town, have caused significant concern among local authorities.

Both individuals are currently in custody and are being interrogated to gather more information regarding the source of the drugs and the extent of their operation.
