India faces a critical shortage of organs, with over 5 lakh people dying each year due to organ unavailability. Donate Life, a Surat-based NGO at the forefront of organ donation advocacy in Gujarat for the past 18 years, is playing a pivotal role in bridging this gap. Through the “Kite Festival,” they hope to encourage more people to pledge their organs and spread the message of hope amidst the darkness of organ failure.

The festival serves as a platform to express gratitude to those who have made the selfless decision to donate the organs of their loved ones. “Patangotsav with Organ Donor Families” is a tribute to these families, whose compassion has given hundreds of organ failure patients a new lease on life.

“This festival is a beautiful way to combine celebration with a crucial cause,” said Nilesh Mandlewala, President of Donate Life. “We hope to inspire more people to join us in this life-saving endeavor.”

The event will take place from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Vesu, Surat. Donate Life has made elaborate arrangements, including kites decorated with organ donation messages and a vibrant spinnery overhead, promising a fun-filled and meaningful experience for all.

The “Kite Festival” has garnered widespread support from Rotary District 3060 and the Self-Financed School Management Board, demonstrating the collective commitment to promoting organ donation in Surat.

“Organ donation is a gift that transcends loss,” shared a family member of an organ donor. “Seeing the joy it brings to recipients fills us with immense pride.”
