Surat | Gujarat —With new stretches of the ambitious Delhi–Mumbai Expressway opening up in south Gujarat, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has officially notified toll rates for the Ena, Gandeva and Moti Naroli (Kim) toll plazas. While the development promises faster and smoother travel between Surat, Vadodara and beyond, commuters are now calculating how much convenience will cost them.

According to NHAI’s notification, cars, vans, jeeps and SUVs travelling from Gandeva to Ena will pay ₹80, while the toll to Moti Naroli (Kim) has been fixed at ₹175. Those heading towards NE-1, the Vadodara–Ahmedabad Expressway, will have to pay ₹480. Similarly, from Ena to Gandeva, the toll is ₹80, ₹175 to Kim and ₹400 to NE-1.

From Moti Naroli (Kim), motorists will pay ₹175 to reach Gandeva, ₹95 to Ena and ₹305 to NE-1. For vehicles entering from NE-1, toll charges have been fixed at ₹480 for Gandeva, ₹400 for Ena and ₹305 for Kim. Notably, while the NE-1 connection lies near Vadodara, Surat-bound vehicles must exit the expressway at Ena.

NHAI officials clarified that for return journeys, one-and-a-half times the toll amount will be charged, as per expressway norms. However, commuters using FASTag with annual recharge plans will continue to receive the applicable benefits.

Regular highway users offered mixed reactions. “The toll feels high, but if it saves me an hour between Surat and Vadodara, I’m willing to pay,” said Rajesh Patel, a diamond trader who frequently travels between the two cities. Another commuter, office-goer Neha Desai, felt differently: “For daily or frequent travel, these tolls will pinch the pocket. The government should think about concessional passes.”

Transporters and logistics operators, however, see long-term gains. “Time is money for us. Faster movement means lower fuel costs and fewer delays,” said a goods carrier operator from Navsari, adding that the expressway could significantly improve turnaround times.

NHAI officials maintained that toll rates have been fixed as per national policy and are essential for maintenance and operations of world-class infrastructure.
