Mumbai : With the support of crowdfunding platform Filaantro, the Child Help Foundation (CHF) has launched a new initiative named NikshayMitra to aid Tuberculosis (TB) sufferers in the Indian city of Mumbai.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the initiative’s implementation partner in Mumbai, has been instrumental in the program’s success. In response to an appeal made by Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the Honourable Governor of Maharashtra, on September 17th, 2022, CHF has decided to distribute nutrition kits to forty children with Tuberculosis in Mulund, Maharashtra, on the first of every month for the next six months. There is a value of Rs 600 each set.

Even though tuberculosis is easily avoidable, it disproportionately affects the poor because of a lack of access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and medicine. ‘On September 9, 2022, the government of India launched a programme called Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt with the goal of completely eliminating tuberculosis by the year 2025.

Mr. Shaji Varghese, CEO of Child Help Foundation, stated, “We recognise the danger that tuberculosis possesses.” CHF has donated to NikshayMitra. Many individuals are susceptible to TB because our government allows waste dumps to be located near populated areas. I understand that some individuals have no option but to live in such structures, and that is why my team and I constantly organise efforts to clean the area and urge others to do the same. That’s why we at Child Help Foundation and Filaantro have chosen to become ‘NikshayMitra’ and work together with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as our implementation partner. I’d want to see more people rally behind our cause.

This Nutritional Kit includes 2kg Rice, 2kg Wheat flour, 2kg Groundnut, 500 gms Tur Dal, 500 gms Moong Dal, 500 gms Jaggery, 250 gms Dates, 1 litre of Groundnut/Sunflower oil, 250 grams of Rajma and 250 grams Red Gram (Lal Chana).

The Child Help Foundation is committed to the nation’s cause of making India Tuberculosis-free by 2025.  Filaantro calls for our contribution to do their part for this noble mission. With our overwhelming support, CHF might be able to increase the number of beneficiaries and continue the good work for more than six months.

We request and encourage people to donate so that the NGO can provide these nutritional kits to more people in need and underprivileged children. Share this campaign with your friends and family members to increase the reach of our mission.
