Bharuch : The 108 Emergency Service in Bharuch district has issued a forecast indicating an expected surge of nearly 22% in emergency calls during the upcoming Diwali festival. The increase is primarily attributed to the amplified movement of people on roads and the customary use of firecrackers during the festive celebrations.

During Diwali, the 108 staff experiences an upsurge in emergency cases compared to regular days. The staff predominantly deals with incidents ranging from road accidents to burn injuries and respiratory issues. To ensure prompt and efficient service during these critical situations, the Bharuch 108 emergency service has placed a total of 19 ambulances on high alert, with approximately 85 employees dedicated to emergency services throughout the festival.

Analyzing the emergency statistics from the previous two years in Gujarat during the Diwali festival, it’s revealed that in 2021, 3546 emergency cases were recorded. Among these, 3581 cases were reported on Diwali day, 4307 on the day of New Year, and 3868 on Bhai Dooj. Similarly, in 2022, there were 3651 total cases, with 3827 on Diwali, 4288 on New Year’s Day, and 4214 on Bhai Dooj.

Considering these historical trends, the current estimate for daily emergency cases in 2023 stands at 3961, projected to surge to approximately 4100 on Diwali, 4681 on New Year’s Day, and 4396 on Bhai Dooj. In Bharuch district, the regular daily emergency cases amount to around 86, indicating an anticipated increase during Diwali and Bhai Dooj to range between 99 to 105 cases daily, marking a 22% increment.
