Surat : Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-Region 1, ZA Shaikh is in the docks after the audio clip of the auto driver, believed to be working for Shaikh, has gone viral on the social media platforms, demanding bribe for allowing the transport vehicles and JCBs to operate smoothly in the jurisdiction headed by ACP Shaikh.
In the viral audio clip, the auto driver identified as Bhurabhai alias Ghanshyam is talking over the phone with one of the owners of the transport vehicle. Ghanshyam identifies himself as working for ACP Shaikh and that he list out the bribe money for different kind of transport vehicles operating in the Region-1.
According to Ghanshyam, the bribe money for Eicher tempo is Rs 1,500, for the JCB it is 2,000 and for other small three-wheelers the price is fixed at Rs 1,000 per month. He (Ghanshyam) is also heard in the audio clip saying that he will take care of the transport vehicle owners who are paying the bribe amount on regular basis.
Social activist, Sanjay Ezhava, who provided the audio clip to The Blunt Times, said, “This is ridiculous. An auto driver is working for the ACP and that he is raising bribe money for him. They have fixed the bribe money for the transport vehicles. There are thousands of transport vehicles in the Region-1 and that the ACP is earning lakhs of rupees as bribe every month. I am preparing a detailed complaint against the ACP and will be demanding thorough investigation into the matter”
