“Surat Diamond Bourse is the world’s largest office building and it will be visited by scores of international diamond buyers. Both the merchants in India and abroad will be able to savour the international flavours of ice-creams at Amul Ice Lounge” said Mehta.
Mehta revealed ambitious expansion plans, aiming to open 100 upscale Amul Ice-Lounges across India in the next financial year. He highlighted Surat as a key target market, recognizing the city’s potential and desire for premium ice-cream experiences.
Amul commands a significant market share in the Indian ice-cream segment, holding close to 50%. The brand enjoys a double-digit growth rate, driven by continuous innovation and expansion. GCMMF and its members are leveraging the government’s Product Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to further enhance their manufacturing capabilities.
“The overall ice-cream market in India is immense,” said Mehta. “While the per capita consumption of ice-cream in India stands at 400 ml, it is significantly higher in developed countries, reaching 22 liters. We at Amul are dedicated to expanding our distribution, production, and retail reach to bring the best ice-cream experiences to every corner of India.”
The opening of the Amul Ice-Lounge in Surat marks a significant step in the brand’s expansion strategy and offers residents a chance to explore the world’s finest flavors without leaving their city.
