Mumbai : “The film “The Lipstick Boy,” based on a true story, is being discussed due to the endorsement of megastar Amitabh Bachchan. According to reports, Mr. Bachchan has provided his voice to the story of this film.  On the occasion of Bihar Diwas, the film was exhibited in the Mona Theatre during the Bihar Film Festival on March 24th. Smt. Bandana Preyashi, Secretary, Bihar Government, Arts, Culture, and Youth, attended the screening.

The film is directed by Abhinav Thakur, whose previous film, Yeh Suhagrat Impossible, earned positive reviews from critics and received a high IMDb rating.

The inspiration for this film came to him when he met Mr. Kumar Uday Singh, a folk dancer from Bihar, at the NSD campus in Delhi. Abhinav Thakur has also directed a number of short films that can be found on many decent ott platforms. Bisaahee and Back Waters are two of his upcoming projects.

When it comes to the film, The main goal of this film, according to director Abhinav Thakur, is to take the famous Launda Naach, which consists of songs, dance, comedy, satire, puns, banter, parody, and theatre in which men impersonate women in performances, to the country and the world, to show that the lives of the artists associated with this culture are full of struggles.

Unfortunately, this creative form is slowly fading. There was a time when women’s costumes featured this dance. This art style was conceptualised by Shri Bhikhari Thakur ji. Bidesia controlled the hallways of Bollywood in his play, but with the passage of time, people’s interests and traditions have shifted.

Even now, many such artists in Bihar are preserving this type of dance; the tale of this film is inspired on the life of Bihar’s famed Launda dancer Kumar Uday Singh and other artists like him. When an artist dances in a woman’s setting today, people mock him, look at him with an inferiority complex, and label her a launda, but that artist does not abandon his art and maintains his culture alive. “The Lipstick Boy” director Abhinav Thakur brings the stories and struggles of the players to the big screen.
