AMC Fires 9 Officers for Using Fake Sponsorships
AMC Officers Secured Positions Through Fraudulent Credentials; Investigation Uncovers Widespread Irregularities
Ahmedabad : The Municipal Commissioner of Ahmedabad has terminated nine fire brigade officers from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) after they were found to have secured their positions through fraudulent means.
An investigation revealed that these officers had gained admission to the National Fire Service College in Nagpur using fake sponsorship certificates. They later used these credentials to obtain employment within AMC’s fire department.
The dismissed officers include Divisional Fire Officers Inayat Shaikh and Om Jadeja, who secured jobs in AMC through bogus sponsorships from Gujarat State Civil Defense, Ahmedabad. Similarly, Kaizad Dastur, in charge of Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, obtained his position through improper admission without the required experience.
Four Fire Station Officers—Shubham, Anirudh, Mehul, and Abhijit Gadhvi—used fake sponsorships from the Central Public Works Department in New Delhi, while Fire Officer Sudhir Gadhvi and Sub-Officer Asif Sheikh gained entry through falsified documents from Koshi Hydro Electric Corp. Ltd., a private firm in Bihar.
After a complaint triggered a vigilance probe, the officers were issued show-cause notices, but their responses were found to be unsatisfactory, leading to their dismissal.
This scandal has shaken the AMC, and there are indications that more revelations could emerge in the coming days.
