Bhavnagar: Ahmedabad’s Akshit Savala upset top seed Burhanuddin Malubhai 4-3 in a humdinger of a contest to grab the men’s title of the Microsign 4th Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2023 organised by Bhavnagar District Table Tennis Association (BDTTA) under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association from July 13 to 16  at the SAG Sports Complex in Bhavnagar.

The tournament is supported by Sports Authority of Gujarat.

Akshit took the opening game only for the Surti paddler to come back in the second. The 24-year-old Akshit overcame a mid-match slump to pocket his maiden men’s title of this season.

Meanwhile, fifth seed Oishiki Joardar of Ahmedabad came back from two-games down to defeat the second seed and local girl Namna Jayswal 4-2 to claim her maiden women’s title. Oishiki then went on to win the U-19 girls title by crushing Surat’s Arnee Parmar 4-1.

The boys U-19 title went to top seed Burhanuddin who dispatched second seed Arman Shaikh 4-1.

Ahmedabad’s Pratha Pawar took home the U-17 and U-15 girls titles by defeating Arnee and Jiya Trivedi respectively.
