Ahmedabad | Gujarat — In a major breakthrough against interstate crime, the LCB Zone-7 team of Ahmedabad has arrested two notorious criminals wanted in a sensational gang war murder case in Udaipur. The accused, who had been evading police after allegedly killing a युवक in broad daylight, were caught hiding in the Sarkhej area following a targeted surveillance operation.

The arrests have sent a strong message to organised crime networks operating across state borders.

Murder in public sparked statewide manhunt

According to investigators, the violent clash took place on April 7 in the Bicchu Ghati area of Udaipur when rival groups — the ‘Javed Dant’ gang and the ‘Naim Thokar’ gang — confronted each other to assert dominance. During the confrontation, a youth identified as Sahil Arif Khan was stabbed in the chest and killed in public, triggering panic and outrage.

Police sources said the main accused fled Rajasthan immediately after the crime and attempted to mislead investigators by filing a false report before escaping to Gujarat.

A senior officer said, “This was a brutal and public act of violence. The accused believed crossing state borders would shield them, but coordinated intelligence ensured their arrest.”

Surveillance operation leads to arrest in Sarkhej

The breakthrough came when LCB Zone-7 officers received intelligence about two suspicious men from Udaipur staying near a private hotel in Sarkhej. Acting swiftly, police teams set up surveillance around the location and intercepted the suspects as soon as they stepped out.

The arrested men were identified as Naimuddin alias Naim Sheikh (34), alleged mastermind of the Naim Thokar gang, and Kundansinh Kushwaha (32), a habitual offender. Authorities confirmed that the Rajasthan Police had announced a ₹10,000 reward for their capture.

Long criminal history raises alarm

Police records reveal a disturbing history of violent offences. Naim Sheikh is linked to at least 15 serious crimes, including murder and robbery, registered across multiple police stations. Kushwaha has 17 criminal cases against him, making both men among the most wanted fugitives in the Udaipur region.

An official involved in the operation stated, “Their arrest has created a ripple effect among criminal networks. It shows that coordinated policing leaves no safe haven for offenders.”

Interstate coordination begins

Following the arrests, Ahmedabad Police informed Rajasthan authorities and initiated legal procedures for further action. Officials say the operation underscores growing interstate coordination to tackle organised crime.
