Ahmedabad, Gujarat: Just days after the horrific Air India Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad that claimed more than 270 lives, Air India SATS Airport Services (AISATS) has come under intense fire for a viral video showing its employees partying in apparent disregard for the tragedy. Following public outrage, AISATS has terminated four senior officials involved in the incident.
The disturbing video, allegedly filmed at the company’s Gurugram office, showed AISATS employees singing and dancing during an office celebration—at a time when the nation was still mourning the June 12 crash of flight AI 171. The plane, which had taken off from Ahmedabad and was bound for London, crashed shortly after takeoff near BJ Medical College, killing 241 passengers and crew on board and injuring several on the ground.

The backlash on social media was swift and unforgiving. “Shameful! While families are still waiting for the remains of their loved ones, AISATS officials are partying,” tweeted one user. Another wrote, “This is the height of insensitivity. Heads must roll.”
Amid growing criticism, AISATS issued a formal statement on Thursday:
“This behavior is completely against our company values. We deeply regret the insensitivity shown during this difficult time. Immediate disciplinary action has been taken, and four senior officials have been terminated. Warnings have been issued to others involved.”
The company added, “We stand with the families of the victims of the AI 171 tragedy and express our heartfelt condolences. We are fully committed to upholding professionalism and responsibility in every aspect of our operations.”
AISATS is a joint venture between Air India and SATS Ltd, a Singapore-based ground handling and catering services firm. The company plays a key role in providing on-ground services at major airports across India.
