Ahmedabad | Gujarat — With Diwali just around the corner, gold and silver sales are soaring across Gujarat. However, a festive shopping frenzy turned chaotic when customers clashed with staff at a well-known jeweller’s shop in Ahmedabad over a misleading silver advertisement. The Ahmedabad jeweller Diwali silver offer sparked outrage after customers claimed they were denied silver at the price advertised in newspapers.

Customers Furious Over Misleading Advertisement

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when customers visited a reputed jewellery shop in Ahmedabad after seeing a festive advertisement that promised silver at ₹1.63 plus GST per gram. Many customers rushed to the store early in the morning, expecting to buy silver biscuits and bars at the advertised rate.

However, once they arrived, they were reportedly told that the offer did not apply as mentioned in the ad. Feeling cheated, angry customers began shouting slogans and demanding accountability, leading to a heated altercation with the jeweller’s employees.

The situation soon escalated, forcing the shop management to call the police control room for help.

Police Intervention Averts Major Clash

Upon receiving the call, a police team quickly reached the jewellery shop to control the situation. Officers explained the matter to both the jeweller and the angry customers, eventually defusing the tension.

Sources said the advertisement’s wording caused confusion, with many buyers believing the offer applied universally to all silver products. The jeweller, however, maintained that the promotional price was limited to specific items and quantities.

Following the incident, crowds that had gathered outside the store dispersed peacefully, but several customers demanded that the Consumer Protection Department take note of the misleading ad and investigate such deceptive festive offers.
